Based on Oliver Hardy's "On The Western Circuit" - Sarah, a housemaid to the Harnham family, meets the highly educated Charles Bradford. As she cannot read and write, she corresponds with him via letters written by Edith. When Charles proposes marriage, the question arises - who is he in love with, the girl he's met, or the writer of the letters?
